About Tablao en Casa

Tablao en Casa was born from our dream to bring the authentic spirit of flamenco tablaos to Chicago. In Spain a tablao is an intimate space where dancers, singers, and musicians come together to create flamenco that is both close and powerful.

At Casa Triana Flamenco we created Tablao en Casa as both a performance and a gathering place, a stage where our students, local artists, and guest performers can share their art, and where audiences can experience flamenco up close.

As part of our mission we include our students in every show, allowing them to rehearse and prepare alongside professional artists. This allows them to experience high quality live music, learn stagecraft, and feel the excitement of performing for a live audience. The show is rehearsed and prepared with care, while still keeping the freshness, energy, and emotion that make flamenco unique.

In each performance audiences will also experience the different styles of flamenco singing, from the profound cante jondo, to the lighter cante chico, and the styles in between, cante intermedio. Together with dance and live music, this variety shows the richness of flamenco’s emotions.

Through Tablao en Casa we share this balance of preparation and passion, building the next generation of artists and making flamenco a living and breathing part of Chicago’s cultural life.
