Sofia Vidaurre
Chicago-born and raised, Sofia started in the Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Youth Company from 2015–2019. She studied under the direction of Julia Hinojosa, José Torres, Mónica Saucedo, and Crystal Ruiz. During her years in the youth company, she had the honor of further developing her flamenco foundation while studying with Carmela Greco, Paloma Gómez, José Barrios, and Carlos Rodríguez.
Sofia attended ChiArts, where she furthered her studies in Ballet, Horton, and Contemporary dance over her four years. She was then promoted to Ensemble Español Company Apprentice Dancer for the 2020–2021 season under the direction of Irma Suárez and Jorge Pérez.
Now, after returning to the world of flamenco following the pursuit of another profession, she is happy to be back dancing at Casa Triana Flamenco and learning from the brilliant dancer Claudia Pizarro, whom she watched growing up at Ensemble Español.
