Bella Koscal

Bella found flamenco the way many Americans first encounter cultural traditions: while on vacation at a stage show. During an unanticipated layover in Madrid, her family discovered a nearby tablao to pass the time. Upon stepping into the theater, she was immediately transported beyond a place of curiosity into one of deep reverence for the culture and traditions of the dance.

With a background in ballet, theater, and figure skating, she had already known the power of movement. But through the passion, the wailing vocals, the dialogue between musicians, and the nuance of movement, flamenco became the ultimate bodily expression of emotion.

Now, performing flamenco for the first time, she feels it is a great honor to study such a profound art form with a company that embodies passion and deep respect for practice and tradition.
