Jon Rozman is a Chicago-based jazz violinist and bandleader who has been practicing since the age of two. A Rockford native, he grew up studying violin and piano with Eleanor Stanlis and Marilyn Cade at the Music Academy in Rockford, where he now serves on the school and foundation boards. After studying violin at the Music Institute of Chicago, he earned a BA in Economics from Dartmouth College ’09 while taking courses in music composition and performing with the Dartmouth Symphony Orchestra. More recently, he has played section violin for the Rockford Symphony Orchestra and Peoria Symphony Orchestra.

Jon’s versatility as a performer spans classical, jazz manouche, country/western, samba, bossa nova, flamenco, blues, and rock. His favorite pedal on his board has one knob to mix in more Eastern European pathos, another for that country twang, and a toggle button to add sweet licks borrowed from Stephane Grappelli. He is an active figure in Chicago’s jazz scene, performing with La Tosca and Alfonso Ponticelli at the Green Mill. In Rockford, he continues to play with swing combo Screw City Swingers and western swing/rockabilly outfit Swingbilly RFD, both Rockford Area Music Industry award winners in recent years. He is available for hire for weddings and private parties as a soloist, duo, string quartet, jazz combo, and more.
